Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Trainer

The Trainer is responsible for designing, planning, and delivering training activities for an organization’s employees, partners, or clients. They actively contribute to skills development, performance improvement, and learner engagement, while respecting pedagogical standards and the company’s values. The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Trainer also supports the OHS team in daily activities, as needed.
Responsibilities:
Training Design and Planning
- Work closely with managers and clients to identify specific competency development needs;
- Develop a variety of learning resources adapted to learner profiles and organizational needs, such as presentations, manuals, interactive tools, or practical guides;
- Ensure training content remains up to date, compliant with applicable laws and standards, relevant, and aligned with the organization’s strategic direction.
Facilitation of Training Sessions
- Deliver training sessions on a variety of topics;
- Encourage interaction, participation, and active learning;
- Adapt content and pace to participant profiles (cultural diversity, skill levels, special needs);
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Evaluation and Follow-Up
- Assess learning outcomes through tests, simulations, self-assessments, or observations;
- Provide constructive and personalized feedback;
- Measure training impact on performance and recommend adjustments;
- Maintain evaluation tools and records up to date;
- Prepare evaluation reports and recommendations.
Administrative Management and Documentation
- Ensure training materials and learning tools are updated;
- Maintain rigorous documentation in compliance with quality standards;
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure training aligns with organizational objectives.
Occupational Health and Safety
- Participate (as needed) in incident investigations and implement corrective action recommendations;
- Contribute to the organization’s OHS strategy;
- Ensure compliance of OHS equipment and procedures;
- Support the maintenance of up-to-date OHS documentation;
- Deliver OHS training (Accident Investigations and Analysis, Working at Heights Rescue, Confined Space Rescue);
- Participate (as needed) in audits and official inspections.

Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365;
- Ability to design digital learning materials: interactive presentations, infographics;
- Knowledge of online training tools (Zoom, Teams).
Adaptability
Flexibility in pedagogical approaches based on participant profiles, levels, and specific needs. Ability to manage unexpected situations and adjust content in real time.
Education
- Training in group facilitation, communication, or classroom management to strengthen teaching and interpersonal skills;
- Certification or attestation in adult education;
- Additional training in the field of expertise being taught;
- Training related to educational technologies or digital learning platforms (interactive tools);
- Significant experience (3 to 5 years) in the field being taught;
- OHS certification in the workplace.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years in a trainer role, a related position, or relevant experience in occupational health and safety;
- Proven experience in designing, delivering, and evaluating training in professional or community settings;
- Experience facilitating groups, providing field coaching, and transferring knowledge;
- Experience applying and ensuring compliance with OHS standards;
- Participation in competency development projects, organizational transformation, or continuous improvement initiatives.
