Primary Role:

The Mine Site Trainer is responsible for designing, planning, and delivering technical and operational training for employees in the mining sector. They actively contribute to risk prevention, the improvement of work practices, and skills development, while adhering to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company values.

Responsibilities:

Design and Planning

• Identify training needs in collaboration with supervisors, OHS teams, and HR
• Design content adapted to on-site realities: safety procedures, equipment use, emergency protocols
• Incorporate regulatory standards and internal policies into training programs
• Update content based on technological changes, incidents, or audits

Training Delivery

• Lead in-person sessions on topics such as mining safety and operation of mining equipment (jumbo drill, scoop, drill rig, truck, jeep, etc.)
• Use hands-on teaching methods: demonstrations, simulations, case studies
• Adapt content to participant profiles (field experience, language, education level)
• Foster a respectful, safe, and inclusive learning environment

Evaluation and Follow-up

• Assess learning through practical tests, field observations, and simulated scenarios
• Provide clear, constructive feedback to participants and managers
• Measure the impact of training on performance and safety
• Produce training reports and recommend adjustments

Administrative Management

• Ensure traceability of training: attendance, results, certificates
• Maintain documentation compliant with regulatory requirements
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure training aligns with operational goals

Required Skills and Qualifications

Interpersonal Skills:

• Strong communication in French (functional English an asset)
• Ability to simplify technical concepts and engage teams
• Leadership, active listening, patience, and rigor

Technical Skills:

• Good knowledge of mining equipment (trucks, drill rigs, scoops, jumbo drills, etc.)
• Comfortable with the Microsoft 365 suite for creating training materials
• Familiarity with training tools (presentations, videos, training management platforms)

Adaptability:

The Mine Site Trainer must be able to work in demanding environments — noise, dust, atypical schedules — and adapt their teaching methods to different operational contexts, whether underground mines, open-pit sites, or processing plants. This flexibility is essential to delivering effective, relevant training on the ground.

Education:

• Certification in adult education or pedagogy (an asset)
• Technical training in a mining-related field (geology, operations, mechanics, health and safety)
• OHS certification (First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, etc.)
• Explosives license

Experience:

• In mining operations
• In a trainer role or technical position in a mining environment (major asset)
• Participation in skills development or continuous improvement projects

Working Conditions:

• Day schedule (4-3 or 4-4-4-2, 7/7 possible)
• 18-month mandate with possibility of extension
